Emergency Medicine: Faculty/Staff Program Event Signup

1. Call out for Buddy Group Mentors!

We are looking for faculty volunteers to participate in our buddy group mentorship program. The ask for faculty is to commit to attending at least two of the four sessions over the year. The purpose is to facilitate a fun event where residents get to meet residents and faculty members from all levels and backgrounds. The PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents in the group do the emailing to coordinate, and the dates and times are already set by the program. All the sessions are in the late afternoon or early evening after the residents’ academic day to maximize their ability to attend.

The faculty would be responsible for coming up with a location and event (although, of course, residents are encouraged to suggest ideas). There are at least two faculty members assigned to each group, and we pair you with someone who is able to attend any sessions you cannot, to ensure all four dates are covered.

2019-2020 buddy group mentorship sessions:

  • October 16th, 2019
  • November 27th, 2019
  • February 5th, 2020
  • May 20, 2020

If you have any questions, or you would like to participate, please email Kaif Pardhan (kaif.pardhan@gmail.com) by August 15, and specify which of the four date/times you can commit to attending.

STAFF SIGN UP SHEET

Presentation Information

  • The chapters listed are a guideline of what we hope to have covered, but feel free to add information from other chapters that are relevant.
  • You are NOT expected to summarize the whole chapter. Residents are expected to have read the chapters ahead of time.
  • Things to focus on: key points, management approaches, high-yield exam material, practical considerations, recent evidence, resources/guidelines
  • Format: Nothing specified, although residents greatly appreciate presentations that are more interactive and involve resident participation. Ideas include lecture based with questions, case-based, flipped classroom, etc.
  • This is just a friendly reminder to be mindful of the time limit. Group B rounds are from 8:30 - 9:50. Please allow 5 minutes at the end of your presentation for questions. If there are 2 presenters, you would each have 35-40 minutes for your presentation (including 5 min for questions).

Our group B rounds will take place on Wednesdays from 8:30 to 9:50 AM at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (Room UC Lecture Theatre in the basement) at 550 University Ave. We will try to send a reminder email a week before your presentation.
