EMHSeed Call for Proposals & Information Session
The EMHSeed program is welcoming proposals for new collaborative projects beginning as early as January 2018. Each project will bring together an Engineering coPI and a Medicine/Hospital coPI. A basic requirement for each coPI is that each be appointed such that they can hold, as PI, grants such as NSERC or CIHR.
Funding is available for at least 6 EMHSeed projects, and additional EMHSeed projects may be funded if they align directly with the research goals of the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research Translational Biology & Engineering Program.
The budget for each EMHSeed project will be $60,000 CAD/year for two years, with possible renewal for a third year. The $60,000 CAD/year amount is the sum total of cash invested by each of the two Faculties and each of two units (e.g. department, institute, hospital) for each project. two-page proposals are due by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business day on December 8, 2017. See the attached PDF for details.
The Department of Medicine will contribute up to $7, 500 per year for two years for a maximum $15,000 of support per project up to a limit of five successfully funded projects. If more than five DoM projects are selected for funding, support from the department will be assigned by rank order as determined by the adjudication committee.
To obtain your letter of support from the DoM please contact Joanna King by Monday, December 4, 2017 with your project details.
There was an information session held on November 6th, 2017, which resulting in a slide deck with further details. If you are interested in applying for this opportunity but are not sure how to connect with a counterpart in Engineering please contact Elaine Footman in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE)
