We are so pleased to invite everyone to our 2nd Annual Wellness Hike! We hope a morning of fresh air, exercise and camaraderie will contribute to feeling more balanced and supported.
When: Saturday, October 1st at 10am.
Where: Sunnybrook Park- Meet near the dog park.
Parking: Follow the road from Raab Blvd down towards the dog park and park here, map
Who: All members of the family are welcome, including furry ones. Dogs are permitted on leash.

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto is seeking applicants for the position of Departmental Division Director, Palliative Medicine. Applicants must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as a Palliative Care Specialist at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, administration and leadership. The term of appointment is five years, renewable once following a successful review. Effective start date will be July 1st, 2022 or an alternative date as mutually agreed on with a transition/mentorship period.
An aspirational leader is sought to advance the academic enterprise of the Division of Palliative Medicine over the next five years. The Division of Palliative Medicine is an interdisciplinary division including Faculty with primary specialization in Palliative Medicine and cross-appointed faculty spanning multiple divisions across the Department of Medicine. The ideal candidate will be an internationally respected scholar and visionary leader with sophisticated interpersonal skills, and proven success in fostering a diverse cultural environment. They will meaningfully engage the academic leadership of the University and the affiliated teaching hospitals to build a culture in which all stakeholders – learners and faculty members – will thrive. They will build strong city-wide collaborations, bridge diverse groups, strengthen capacity in research across disciplines, and provide strong mentorship to trainees and faculty at all career stages. The individual will establish an overarching vision and strategic direction for the Division. The Director reports directly to the Chair of Medicine.
The Division of Palliative Medicine within the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, is comprised of 26 full-time and 10 part-time and adjunct clinical faculty members. The Palliative Medicine Residency Training Program is the largest in Canada, with 2 residents and ~6 fellows per year who come from across Canada and abroad to train here. We are dedicated to providing unparalleled care to our patients, and to train the next generation of palliative care subspecialists to use their clinical, academic, and scholarly skills throughout their future careers. The depth of expertise and accomplishments of our faculty, and the breadth and rigor of our training and research activities, serve to highlight the vigor of our Division.
The Department of Medicine is one of the largest in North America, with over 900 full-time faculty members, 1,000 postgraduate trainees, and 20 sub-specialty divisions located across 6 fully affiliated hospitals, 6 community-affiliated hospitals and more than a dozen additional clinical practice sites. The Department of Medicine is a research powerhouse with $185+ million annual research funding (2018). Applicants must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Palliative Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure in Ontario. The preferred hospital site for the Director’s clinical activities will be negotiated with the successful candidate and be one of the following University’s fully-affiliated sites: Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, University Health Network, Sinai Health System - Mt. Sinai Hospital, Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael’s Hospital, or The Hospital for Sick Children - SickKids. Estimated total remuneration from all sources will be in the range of $250-350,000 and commensurate with qualifications, experience and clinical work.
