I am pleased to share the updated strategic plan for the University of Toronto Department of Medicine. The plan sets forth priorities and ambitions for the next four years as we pursue our vision of improved health for all, driven by excellence in education, research, and patient care, enabled by a department where people thrive.

Much of the plan focuses on upholding our long tradition of global excellence in education, research, quality and innovation, and patient care. It also introduces important new priorities, including advancing health systems solutions, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and addressing planetary health. It reaffirms our commitment to excellence through equity and underscores the need to strengthen financial sustainability. But above all, it prioritizes supporting and valuing the faculty, trainees, and staff who make up our department, and strengthening the connections and collaborations that enable impactful scholarship, outstanding education, and high-quality patient care. I invite you to read the full plan here and to share your feedback via this link

I am deeply grateful to the many colleagues who provided ideas and perspectives throughout the strategic planning process, and especially to the Vice Chairs, Physicians-in-Chief, and Departmental Division Directors for their leadership and thoughtful input. I look forward to what lies ahead and all that we can achieve together.

Sincerely,
Moira
