This past June, the Department of Medicine recognized some of our faculty who have made significant and meaningful contributions to education, teaching, research, quality and innovation, humanism, mentorship and clinical practice with our annual awards. These awards celebrate our faculty members and recognize the local and global impact of our department.
Here’s what our Research award winners had to say about receiving their award:
Eaton Scholar Researcher of the Year (Basic and Translational Science) - Dr. Mario Masellis
“It is truly an honour to have received the prestigious 2025 Eaton Scholar Researcher of the Year Award in Basic/Translational Science. I would like to thank the Department of Medicine for their ongoing support and for this recognition. This award means a lot to me and I am proud to be a researcher within the Department of Medicine, alongside all of my colleagues who are all doing such incredible work to improve the quality of life for the patients we care for.”
Eaton Scholar Researcher of the Year (Clinical Research) - Dr. Laurent Brochard
"I was greatly honoured to receive the Eaton Scholar Researcher of the Year Award for clinical research. To me, it was also a tribute to all the people who trusted me and offered me their support over the last ten years or so in Toronto."
William Goldie Award in Research - Dr. Aaron Drucker
“Researchers in the Department of Medicine are doing amazing, impactful work across such a broad range of clinical specialties. To be recognized among my colleagues as doing research that meets that high bar, particularly coming from a small subspecialty, is incredibly meaningful.”
