Dr. Lay is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto and is the founding director of the Headache Program. She is now in her second term as the Deborah Ivy Christiani Brill Chair for Neurology Research. She received her MD. from the University of Toronto and completed her Neurology residency at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, following which she did her Fellowship in Headache Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition to a very busy patient practice, she is actively involved in research, teaching, and advocacy, serving as the Chair of the American Migraine Foundation, and as a board member of the American and Canadian Headache Societies. She is also the founding co-chair of the Canadian Headache Society annual conference. Her primary interest is in migraine and the impact of hormonal fluctuations on migraine in women across the lifespan.
