Training Verifications

Physicians who trained in internal medicine and/or its specialties and subspecialties at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, may request verification of training within the Department. These training verifications are for postgraduate medical education only. Undergraduate studies will not be verified by the Department.

Training can be verified for physicians who trained in the Department of Medicine’s programs listed below:

Evaluations will not be printed from POWER as part of the training verification. If the trainee wants the evaluations printed, they are able to log into POWERto obtain evaluations themselves. NOTE: Any training verification inquiry dating back before 1976 should be directed to the Hospital Credentialing Office that the trainee trained at, as the registration was done directly with the hospital.

Instructions for Requesting Training Verification

Before sending payments, please send all inquiries and requests to the below email address, including the following:

          -  Name of Trainee

          -  Specialty of Training

          -  Approximate Years of Training

The Training Verification Officer will first confirm the trainee was in fact registered with the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, and will then determine the verification needed and costs associated with the requests.

(2) Payment Options and Costs Associated with Training Verifications

Payment Options

Please note there are costs associated with training verifications by the Department of Medicine.

Choose an option to make a payment, either online or by mail.

PAY ONLINE: Payment can be made by credit card using our Online Training Verification Payment Form, which redirects to a secure third-party payment system.* Please do not send credit card information directly to University staff.

Using this option will send a confirmation email to the user (and the Training Verification Officer) once they have completed the submission.

Refund Policy for Online Payment: In the event we are unable to complete the verification of training, the full refund will be issued as a cheque that will be mailed out, which may take up to 6-8 weeks. Otherwise, all payments are final and no refund will be issued.

*The Department of Medicine has partnered with Moneris (service provider) to provide clients with an online credit card fee payment option. The online Mastercard and Visa Canadian Dollar verification fee payment service is inclusive of a convenience fee collected directly by Moneris.

PAY BY MAIL: Payment can be made by money order or certified cheque in Canadian or American funds. Certified cheques or money orders are to be made payable to the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine. Personal cheques, cash and credit cards will not be accepted. United States Postal Service postal money orders will also not be accepted.

Applied fees for a physician who has completed training in the Department of Medicine within the past six (6) months will have the fee waived

Applied fees for a physician who was registered in the Department of Medicine within the past five (5) years

Processing Time for Training Verification

Training verifications will not be processed until payment has been received and consent to release information has been signed by the trainee and received by the Department of Medicine.

Upon receipt of all the necessary information, consent and payment, training verification will be finalized within 10 business days.
