The Department of Medicine Quality & Innovation (Q&I) Committee is pleased to announce the Quality & Innovation Scholarship Support Awards (QuISSA) to help support Q&I-related scholarship costs for University of Toronto Department of Medicine’s Clinicians in Quality and Innovation. These include:
biostatistical and data-related support costs, and
peer-reviewed journal publication fees.
The total funding available for these awards is $20,000 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Activities eligible for funding include:
Up to $2500 in biostatistical and data-related costs (e.g., data analysis, database management/development)
Up to $3500 in journal publication fees in a peer-reviewed journal where the applicant is the first or last author and no other funding support is available.
Application guidelines:
Primary investigator must be a Clinician in Quality & Innovation in the Dept. of Medicine
As funds are limited, funding is not guaranteed.
Priority will be given to early career faculty and those who have not received prior funding support.
One award per applicant may be enforced depending on application volume.
Applications for retroactive funding will not be considered.
Grant guidelines:
Funds must be accessed within 1 year of being awarded.
Proof of activity payment (for expenses incurred) or invoices (for costs to be paid such as statistical analysis fees) are required for funding to be released.
Each successful applicant is expected to acknowledge the support of a “University of Toronto Department of Medicine Quality & Innovation Scholarship Support Award” in all publications and/or presentations supported in-whole or in-part by the funding provided.
Evidence of prior receipt of funds is considered when adjudicating new applications.
