Hans Katzberg

Hans Katzberg is Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto, neuromuscular specialist at the Prosserman Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases and clinical investigator at the Krembil Brain Institute at UHN. His research focuses on novel neuromuscular diagnostics and therapeutics focusing on peripheral neuropathies and neuromuscular junction disorders. He has served as principal investigator for investigator initiated and multi-centre clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for immune neuromuscular disorders which have led to implementation in clinical practice. He is currently the Division Head of Neurology at UHN/SHS.

He has developed and advanced techniques including minimally invasive muscle biopsy as well as imaging and electrophysiological diagnostics such as neuromuscular ultrasound, MRI neurography and oculography. He is a global leader in the assessment and management of patients with motor nerve hyper-excitability and muscle cramps and has led initiatives to further the care of patients requiring neurological transition from pediatric to adult care.

He is committed to advancing neurological and neuromuscular education nationally and internationally, serving as Chair of the Neurology Grand Rounds until Fall of 2026 and previously serving as the Fellowship Program Director for Neurology at the University of Toronto.
