Jean-Philippe Galanaud

Dr. Galanaud completed his residency from 1999-2005 and obtained his Medical Degree in 2005 at Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris, France). He also obtained a Master degree in Health Economics in 2001 at Paris-Dauphine University (France) and a Masters in Management / MBA at ESSEC Business School in 2003 (Cergy-Pontoise, France). Thereafter, he completed a clinical fellowship in Internal Medicine and Vascular Medicine at Montpellier University Hospital (2005-2009) and obtained a PhD in Biology at the University of Montpellier (France) in 2011. He obtained peer-reviewed grant support from CIHR (with Dr. S. Kahn), from the French Society of Vascular Medicine and from Montpellier University Hospital. He is member of the Canadian CanVector and the French InnoVTE thrombosis research networks.

Dr. Galanaud joined the medical staff of the Vascular Medicine Unit of the Department of Internal Medicine at Montpellier University Hospital in 2005 and worked there till 2017. Since April 2017 he joined the Department of General Internal Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to work in the Thromboembolic team.

Dr Galanaud's research interests are mainly in the area of venous thrombosis, based on prospective outcome studies, medico-economic studies and therapeutic trials with a focus in four main areas: distal deep-vein thrombosis, superficial vein thrombosis, post-thrombotic syndrome and pulmonary embolism. He has published 48 peer-reviewed articles.
