Dr. Jennifer Fu is a Clinician in Quality and Innovation and Staff Endocrinologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She completed her MD at Queen's University and Internal Medicine and Endocrinology training at the University of Toronto, where she also served as chief resident in her final year. Following her residency, she has completed a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, with her thesis work focusing on the association between maternal glycemic control in pregnancies complicated by type 2 diabetes and offspring obesity/adiposity, and the Excellence in Quality Improvement Certificate Program through the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Dr. Fu's academic interest is in developing novel care pathways and improving existing programs in pregnancy and the pre/inter-conception period for patients with or at high risk for diabetes. She actively leads several quality improvement initiatives at Sunnybrook, including optimizing retinopathy screening in pregnancy for women with pre-gestational diabetes and improving an existing postpartum follow-up program for women with recent gestational diabetes.
