Julia Hopyan
Over the last 5 years, Dr. Hopyan has supported the stroke program, and sees a very high volume of patients in the Regional Stroke Prevention Clinic as well as in the Rapid TIA/Stroke Clinic. She is the Co-Director of the NeuroDoppler Ultrasound lab at Sunnybrook and provides service in the quality maintenance and improvement of the lab, as well as report the carotid and transcranial Doppler ultrasounds. It continues to be the only ultrasound laboratory in Toronto that is internationally accredited for both carotid US and transcranial Doppler US. She is also the Stroke Neurology Fellowship Director.
Dr. Hopyan was awarded the Inpatient Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine in 2017. She participated in the curriculum development of the stroke neurology component of the new Foundations Curriculum at the University of Toronto and continues to teach this on an annual basis. She continues to serve in the Division of Neurology Education Committee as the Resident Wellness and Safety Co-Officer. She has been involved in national planning for a new stroke fellowship curriculum and was invited to be an examiner with the Royal College. She was recently recognized as being in the top 10% of University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine teachers.
