Lorenzo Madrazo

Lorenzo Madrazo, MD, MHPE, FRCPC is a General Internal Medicine Physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor and Clinician Educator at the University of Toronto. He holds BMus and BEd degrees from the University of Toronto. He completed his MD from the University of Ottawa, his core Internal Medicine residency at Western University, his General Internal Medicine subspecialty training at the University of Ottawa, and his Master of Health Professions Education at Maastricht University. He also completed a Medical Education Fellowship with with the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education at the University of Ottawa. 

In addition to the inpatient and outpatient care of complex general medicine patients, he has specific interests in cardiovascular medicine and point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). 

His research centres on qualitative methodology and different aspects of the sociocultural dimensions of medical education. Most recently, this includes what helps or hinders resident leaders’ voices in becoming influential within residency programs, the professional identity formation of physicians and trainees, and the phenomenon of illness presenteeism and absenteeism within medicine.
