Pablo Olivera Sendra
Dr. Pablo Olivera Sendra is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a gastroenterologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, with a specialized clinical and research focus on inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
He completed his medical education in Argentina at the Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, graduating with honors, followed by postgraduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He subsequently pursued a research fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease in Nancy, France, and completed advanced subspecialty fellowship training in inflammatory bowel disease at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Olivera Sendra also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Olivera Sendra’s clinical practice focuses on the care of patients with complex inflammatory bowel disease, including refractory disease, extraintestinal manifestations, postoperative recurrence, and perianal Crohn’s disease. He has a particular interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease in older adults. His clinical approach emphasizes compassionate, patient-centred care, shared decision-making, and the integration of evidence-based therapies tailored to individual patient goals.
His research program is centered on clinical epidemiology and outcomes research in inflammatory bowel disease, with an emphasis on treatment effectiveness, safety, and patient-centred outcomes. He has authored and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in leading gastroenterology journals and regularly presents his work at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Olivera Sendra collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and is an active member of international research consortia focused on advancing the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
