Dr. Samar Aboulenain is a Clinician Teacher in the Division of Rheumatology at St. Michael’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Miami, followed by a Rheumatology residency at the University of Toronto. She further specialized with a clinical fellowship in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound at McMaster University.

Dr. Aboulenain is a graduate of the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) and holds certification in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology (RhMSUSTM) from the American College of Rheumatology. Her academic and research interests focus on medical education, particularly the integration of point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound (POCUS) into post-graduate training and assessment.

She has contributed to educational innovation through the development of ultrasound anatomy flashcards and has co-led the creation and implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) to assess learner competency within the University of Toronto Rheumatology Residency Program. She is also engaged in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and training outcomes.
