Sonia Rodriguez-Ramirez

Sonia Rodriguez-Ramirez is a transplant nephrologist who completed their internal medicine and nephrology residencies at the esteemed National Medical Science Institute, recognized as Mexico's and Latin America premier medical institution. Building upon their foundation, she pursued specialized training in kidney transplantation, earning certification from the American Society of Transplantation through a prestigious fellowship at the University Health Network (UHN). Sonia also completed a fellowship in Glomerular Diseases by GlomCon in 2020. Throughout her career, Sonia has held notable leadership positions, including serving as chief resident at the National Medical Science Institute, as a fellow for the UHN Multi-Organ Transplant Program and as a GlomCon instructor and GlomCon eBook deputy editor after completing the GlomCon fellowship. Her dedication to advancing healthcare quality led them to pursue a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality degree from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada, in 2023. Sonia also finished the Advanced Training Program in Clinical Quality Improvement at Intermountain Healthcare Delivery Institute in November 2022. She has led numerous successful quality improvement projects at UHN, such as improving transitions of care and patient experience and promoting high-value care. Sonia believes QI's mission is about serving exponentially, beyond our human limits, by designing valuable healthcare systems to impact our community. She loves to learn. In her free time, Sonia practices pilates and dances. She loves music, tennis, soccer and art history.
