Tsukasa Ishiwata, MD, PhD, is a lung transplant respirologist, interventional pulmonologist, and clinician investigator with the Toronto Lung Transplant Program at the University Health Network. He obtained his medical degree from Gunma University in Japan and subsequently completed training in Internal Medicine and Respirology. After obtaining his PhD from Chiba University, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Latner Thoracic Surgery Research Laboratories, University Health Network. Dr. Ishiwata then completed a clinical fellowship in Interventional Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital. His current research focuses on developing novel interventional strategies to improve outcomes in lung transplant recipients.
