Dr. Yoo-Joung Ko graduated from the University of Toronto as well as completing his internal medicine training at U of T before moving to Boston in where he completed his fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  During the fellowship, Dr. Ko completed a Masters in Medical Sciences at Harvard Medical School/MIT. Following the fellowship, he stayed on as faculty and was funded by a career award from the National Cancer Institute.  During this time, he also completed his Masters of Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.  Since returning to Canada, he has focused his effort into gastrointestinal malignancies and medical education.  He is the prior chair of the gastrointestinal cancer group at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.  He is interested in clinical trials in pancreatic and colorectal cancer and has been the principal investigator of several of multi-centre investigator initiated studies. He is the current Chair of the Ontario Research Ethics Board..  He has also completed the Master Teacher program and has won several teaching awards both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.   In addition, he is the Gastrointestinal Oncology section editor at Dynamed, an online medical tool.  Recently, he moved from Sunnybrook to take  the position of the Medical Director of the Cancer and Endoscopy program at Unity Health.
