The goals of this fellowship are to gain clinical expertise in the unique approaches to management of young adult patients with diabetes transitioning from pediatric to adult care, and to develop skills and experience in research in diabetes health services and health quality improvement. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in the WCH young adult diabetes program and gain expertise in the multidisciplinary management of young adult diabetes patients. They will also lead a research/quality improvement project that will contribute to the evaluation, knowledge sharing, and quality improvement initiatives for young adults with diabetes. The trainee will submit an abstract of their research to a conference and prepare a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. They will have 50% protected time for scholarly activities.
