Andrea Boggild
Dr. Andrea Boggild is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and is the Medical Director of the Tropical Disease Unit in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Toronto General Hospital. In addition, she is the Parasitology Lead for the Public Health Ontario Laboratory, and has graduate supervisory privileges through the University of Toronto's Institute of Medical Science. She is a licensed Medical Microbiologist and Infectious Diseases physician, who provides care to patients with travel-acquired infectious diseases in her medical practice. As a Clinician Scientist in the Department of Medicine, she leads ongoing international research and clinical collaborations in the fields of leishmaniasis, malaria, and travel and migration health, and through this work has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and clinical guidelines, and has supervised more than 75 research trainees across academic levels. She presently Chairs the Malaria Sub-committee of the Committee to Advise on Tropical Medicine and Travel (CATMAT), an external advisory body to the Public Health Agency of Canada, and is the Director of Epidemic Intelligence and Surveillance for CanTravNet, the Canadian consortium of GeoSentinel Surveillance Network sites. She also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for Tropical Diseases, Travel Medicine and Vaccines, and on the editorial boards of several other peer-reviewed journals in travel and tropical medicine.
