Bindee Kuriya

Dr. Kuriya completed her medical school, internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship at the University of Toronto. She earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health and is the recipient of several awards including a postdoctoral award from the Canadian Arthritis Network & UCB Canada Inc./Canadian Rheumatology Association/Arthritis Society, Canadian Institutes of Health Research fellowship award and CRA(CIORA)/Arthritis Society Clinician Investigator Award. Dr. Kuriya’s clinical expertise is inflammatory arthritis, namely rheumatoid arthritis, and her research primarily focuses on pharmacoepidemiology and outcomes of rheumatoid arthritis. She has a keen interest in using observational cohorts and administrative databases to study long-term outcomes, such as co-morbidity and risk of serious adverse events. In addition, she has an interest in examining health care utilization among those living with inflammatory arthritis. Dr. Kuriya joins the rheumatoid arthritis program at Mount Sinai Hospital, which is the largest centre diagnosing and treating rheumatoid arthritis in Canada. Dr. Kuriya is also the director of the Rheumatology Rapid Access Clinic that serves to triage urgent referrals from the emergency room or following inpatient admission.
