Brandon Lieu, MD, FRCPC, CSCN (EMG)
Dr. Brandon Lieu attended the University of Alberta for his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Nutrition. Dr. Lieu continued his training at the University of Alberta for both medical school and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where he served as Chief Resident.
His interest in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine (SCIM) grew into a passion throughout his residency training and he went on to complete his SCIM fellowship at Stanford University.
Dr. Lieu’s research interest has focused on the application of nerve and tendon transfers for people with spinal cord injury (SCI) and the use of electrical stimulation for people with SCI.
His other core interest is in adaptive sports medicine, and he hopes to integrate these two areas of expertise to enhance the quality of life and well-being of individuals with SCI. Dr. Lieu has obtained his Canadian certification in electrodiagnostic medicine and plans to apply this skill to push the frontier of nerve transfers and functional restoration in the SCI population.
With great enthusiasm, Dr. Lieu looks forward to playing a role in the lives of those with SCI both locally and at a global level.
