Dr. Heslop's clinical, academic and scholarly focus is emergency point of care ultrasound (POCUS), with a particular emphasis on curriculum development and providing hands-on POCUS training for EM trainees and staff physicians. As a co-lead in the Undergraduate Ultrasound Curriculum Committee, she is directing the development and integration of a POCUS undergraduate clerkship curriculum, which will include applications across most medical specialties at the University of Toronto medical school. As Co-Director of Emergency Ultrasound at the University Health Network, Dr. Heslop is also expanding existing POCUS education and quality assurance programs for both diagnostic and procedural applications in the ER.
