Dawn Maze

Dawn Maze, MD, FRCPC, MSc is a member of the Leukemia Program and the Elizabeth & Tony Comper MPN Program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Dr. Maze received her medical degree and master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from Memorial University. She completed postgraduate training in hematology at Queen’s University, followed by a fellowship in blood and marrow transplantation & transfusion medicine research at The Ottawa Hospital. She was a member of the Ottawa Blood Disease Centre before moving to the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in 2016.
Dr. Maze’s current research interests include optimizing transfusion support for patients with hematologic malignancies and management of Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN). She is co-principal investigator of a CIHR-funded multicenter study of prophylactic platelet transfusions vs. tranexamic acid for patients undergoing autologous transplantation (the PATH study), the current chair of the UHN hospital transfusion committee and served on an international consensus panel on patient blood management. She is also interested in pregnancy management in patients with MPN and optimizing patient selection and timing of allogeneic transplantation for myelofibrosis. She is the primary investigator or co-investigator on clinical trials of treatment and supportive care of patients with hematologic malignancies.
