Foad Taghdiri
Dr. Taghdiri joined the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, at the University of Toronto and University Health Network in August 2025 as an Active Staff Neurologist and Assistant Professor. He also serves as Courtesy Staff at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto. He completed his Adult Neurology residency at the University of Toronto and a Clinical Fellowship in Neurohospitalist Medicine at Stanford University. He is board-certified in Neurology in both Canada and the United States.
Dr. Taghdiri’s clinical and academic focus is on inpatient and acute neurology, with a particular interest in the care of patients with complex neurological conditions, stroke, and critical neurologic illness. Earlier in his career, he completed a Master of Science at the University of Toronto, where he studied cognition and concussion, and later expanded his research to examine disparities in access to stroke care.
During fellowship, he also led quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing resident education through innovative teaching methods and strengthening patient safety through improved near-miss reporting systems.
He is especially keen to introduce and expand the concept of neurohospitalist medicine in Canada, developing innovative models of care that improve quality, safety, and equity for acutely ill neurological patients. Through his clinical practice, educational leadership, and systems-focused initiatives, Dr. Taghdiri is committed to being an active leader driving meaningful change in acute and complex neurology.
