Geetha Mukerji is a Staff Endocrinologist and Clinician in Quality and Innovation and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and Women’s College Hospital Institute of Health Systems and Virtual Care (WIHV). Her primary appointment is in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Women’s College Hospital with cross-appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her clinical interests are in endocrine in pregnancy optimization and transitions of care for young patients living with diabetes.

Academically, Dr. Mukerji has: 1) promoted high-value care through stewardship initiatives that have been scaled across various institutions, 2) developed and evaluated multiple innovative ambulatory care models including novel care models that leverage digital pathways, and 3) improved the quality of delivery of care for patients with diabetes, particularly among vulnerable populations in pregnancy and young adults with type 1 diabetes. She has co-led the development of an ambulatory balanced scorecard of quality indicators that incorporates patient-reported outcomes for diabetes care and supported the co-ordination of audit and feedback data to improve diabetes care across five hospital sites.

Dr. Mukerji is the Corporate Medical Information officer at WCH. She has led the development and is the co-chair of the Digital Quality Committee that aims to improve quality of care through digital optimization. She is also the co-evaluation lead of the Women’s Virtual strategy. At WCH, she spearheaded the efforts to obtain Level 1 recognition of Women’s College Hospital as a Choosing Wisely Canada Hospital Site. She continues to advance education in quality improvement (QI) and patient safety and has mentored many trainees and providers in QI. She has over 50 published articles including 10 as senior or first author. For her commitment to advancing QI, she was awarded the DOM William Goldie Prize Award for Quality and Innovation in 2020 at the University of Toronto and Excellence in Resource Stewardship Teaching Award in 2024 at the Temerty School of Medicine.
