James Limacher
Dr. James Limacher formally joined the faculty of the Division of Dermatology at Women’s College Hospital in 2009 after several years as a volunteer teacher. He led the development of the Core Dermatopathology curriculum and is the primary teacher in that discipline within the Dermatology Residency program. He introduced virtual microscopy into that program, an initiative integral to sustaining it during the pandemic. Dr. Limacher is recognized nationally for his commitment to dermatopathology as a consultant and educator. In 2019, Dr. Limacher developed a subspecialty fellowship program in Dermatopathology, uniquely designed for dual dermatologist-pathologist specialists. He was the dermatopathologist member of a team of Canadian experts tasked with developing standards for a multidisciplinary approach to cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Limacher was an index applicant for recognition of Dermatopathology as a formal subspecialty of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and is Vice-Chair of the RCPSC Working Group developing discipline-specific national standards for the subspecialty.
