Jessie Baptiste

Dr. Baptiste completed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, followed by IM residency also at US (2011) and GIM subspecialty training (2013) at the University of Alberta. Since 2013, Dr. Baptiste has worked as a general internist with the Saskatchewan Health Authority at the University of Saskatchewan, where she is appointed as an Assistant Professor.

She has had extensive experience with teaching medical students and residents; and with excellence in educational leadership in multiple areas. At the UGME level, she was the Chair of the UGME Year 4 Curriculum from 2016-2018. At the PGME level, she was the CBD Lead for GIM 2018-2019, leading the curriculum change from a traditional to CBD framework, plus leading resident and faculty development in CBD.

From 2019 to 2021 she served as the Program Director for the GIM subspecialty program, and since 2021, she has been the Program Director for the Internal Medicine program. In both her Program Director roles, Dr. Baptiste has participated at the national level at the RCPSC, on the GIM and IM Specialty committees. From 2022 to 2023 she also participated in the national
Medicine Pathways Taskforce, which aimed to develop recommendations to guide the RCPSC about the future direction of IM/GIM training in Canada.

More recently, Dr. Baptiste also served as Administrative Lead of the University of Saskatchewan’s Department of Indigenous Health, focusing on the development of the administrative structure of the department.
