Jon Mong
Dr. Jon Mong is thrilled to join the Division of General Internal Medicine at Toronto General Hospital as a Clinician in Quality and Innovation and Assistant Professor. Jon grew up in St. John’s, NL, where he completed his BSc in Biochemistry at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and then went to medical school at the University of British Columbia. Having lived on the East and West Coasts, he then split the difference and attended the University of Toronto for his Core Internal Medicine Residency and General Internal Medicine Fellowship.
Jon has a clinical focus in Addiction Medicine and works with the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital. He received his MSc in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety through the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, during which he completed a project to improve the utilization of anti-craving medications for patients with alcohol use disorder. His academic interests lie in improving the quality of care for patients with substance use disorders and helping learners become more familiar with how to serve this patient population.
Outside of work, Jon enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, learning languages, and enjoying a good ice cream with his wife, Daisy, and dog, Cece.
