Dr. Gewarges has additionally trained in delivering outreach cardiovascular care to the Moose Factory, Moosonee, Peawanuck, and Attawapiskat Cree First Nations communities within the Weeneebayko Health Authority, both virtually and On Reserve.

Her unique training pathway and dedicated graduate work in Sociology inspired Dr. Gewarges to co-develop the Diversity and Inclusion in Cardiology Education (DICE) program, a mentorship program for Black and Indigenous learners. As a Clinician Teacher within the Division of Cardiology with a primary appointment in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) and in the outpatient heart failure setting, Dr. Gewarges nurtures her passion for teaching and mentoring junior and senior learners, and endeavours to further refine her work in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion throughout her career by formalizing mentorship, training, and outreach programs in alliance with other equity-seeking groups within the University. She will also unite her training, passion, and expertise to provide patients with a holistic treatment and management plan from critical illness to outpatient follow-up, with ongoing outreach work in First Nations communities across Ontario with the goal of expanding access to durable remote monitoring strategies.
