Sven Martin Ingelsson
Martin Ingelsson, MD, PhD, is a geriatrician by training and a clinician scientist at the Toronto Western Hospital / University Health Nertwork. The main aim of Dr. Ingelsson’s research is to increase our understanding of neurotoxic mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia with Lewy bodies and utilize this knowledge to develop novel therapeutic applications for these disorders. The research thus has a pronounced translational character where both immunotherapy and gene therapy approaches against pathogenic protein species are being evaluated on cell and animal models for the respective disorders. Dr. Ingelsson earned his MD and PhD at the Karolinska Institute in 1995 and 2001, respectively, and has received post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School in 2001-2004. He has been a Professor in Geriatrics at Uppsala University since 2016. He has co-authored 170 peer-reviewed papers and his H-index is 62.
