Tomohiro Aoki
Dr. Aoki is a clinician-scientist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He completed his medical training in Japan and obtained PhD at Nagoya University. From his front-line experience as a hematologist and oncologist, he felt a strong desire to pursue translational research to improve patient survival for refractory lymphoma patients. During his postdoctoral at the University of British Columbia between 2017-2022, he acquired cutting-edge technical and analytical skills in integrative genomics and immunology in lymphoma. The central focus of his research is to understand how interactions in the tumor microenvironment and tumor cells regulate the development of cancer and tumor-educated microenvironment in lymphoid cancers, which lead to biomarker discovery and novel treatment target to improve patient outcomes. He has served a consultant member of the Children Oncology Group (COG) Hodgkin lymphoma biology committee.
