Description: |
The Fellowship in Immunodermatology and Clinical Research is a one-year program that offers advanced training in the care of patients with complex immune-mediated skin disease, alongside structured opportunities to develop clinical research expertise. The fellowship provides exposure to a broad range of immune-mediated dermatoses such as hidradenitis suppurativa, cutaneous lymphomas, autoimmune blistering diseases, and complex general dermatology in a tertiary care setting. Fellows will spend the majority of their time in outpatient clinics, gaining hands-on experience in the diagnosis and multidisciplinary management of patients with complex skin disease. In addition to their clinical activities, fellows will have protected time dedicated to clinical research. They are encouraged to lead an investigator-initiated study, participate in ongoing research, and engage in scholarly activities including research seminars, mentorship meetings, and academic rounds. Fellows are expected to present their work at a national or international meeting and prepare at least one manuscript suitable for peer-reviewed publication. Fellows are integrated into the University of Toronto’s academic dermatology community and will contribute to medical education through bedside teaching, small group sessions, and occasional formal lectures for dermatology residents and medical students. The program is designed to prepare future leaders in academic dermatology who are committed to advancing evidence-informed patient care through meaningful clinical research. |
