The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at St. Michael’s Hospital is committed to providing the best care in interventional cardiology for patients and strives to develop competencies by caring for a diverse patient population. The program promotes education, research and innovation in the basic science and clinical discipline of interventional cardiology by supporting a strong academic environment. Our graduates exercise intellectual curiosity, scholarship for advancement of knowledge and value cultural diversity in service to others for attaining greater personal growth and wellness.
The main mission of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program is to train fellows for maintaining an up to date knowledge, superior technical skills and develop attitudes for becoming excellent interventional cardiologist by upholding the highest ethical and professional standards. We seek to train physicians for becoming leaders and agents of change. Program faculty are actively involved as educators, researchers, scholars and mentors to help trainees identify areas with the best potential for a successful and a rewarding career.
The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program aims to provide trainees with the opportunity to master the technical skills of complex coronary interventions, understand the principles of patient selection, risk benefit assessment and decision making in cardiovascular patient care. The program meets all and exceeds many program criteria as outlined by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, AHA statement on clinical competency and the ACC COCATS guidelines for advanced training interventional cardiology.
