Topic: Mitochondria at the Center of Synaptic and Oxidative Abnormalities in Alzheimer’s Disease

Educational Objectives: 
1. Mitochondria abnormalities including mtDNA release, mitophagy and size regulation
2. Synaptic abnormalities linked to mitochondria abnormality in synapses rather than synapse reduction
3. Oxidative stress is catalyzed by Fe/Cu redox chemistry
4. Abeta deposits contain metallic Fe/Cu. First time identified in humans
5. Abeta may be a critical antioxidant response
