Topic: Catatonia Beyond Psychiatry: Exploring Neuropsychiatric Bases, Cognitive Dimensions, and Clinical Challenges

Educational Objectives: 

  • Review the epidemiology and pathophysiology of catatonia as a neuropsychiatricsyndrome.
  • Appreciate the cognitive features of this syndrome in both the acute and post-acute phases of the illness.
  • Discuss the opportunities and challenges in assessing and managing catatonia specifically in non-psychiatric patients.
