Topic: What TikTok tics taught us about Tourette Syndrome

Learning Objectives: 

• To discuss the presentation, phenomenology and associated features of Tourette Syndrome in contrast to functional tic like behaviours in children and youth

• To review long term outcomes of tics vs functional tic like behaviours

• To describe the clinical features of Tourette Syndrome in adult patients

Dr. Pringsheim will discuss her research on Tourette Syndrome and functional tic like behaviours using the Calgary Tic Registry, a prospective registry of children and adults with tic disorders in Alberta. She will discuss how the functional tic pandemic helped Tourette Syndrome researchers worldwide better understand and define both conditions.
