Neurology: Movement Disorders Speaker Series (4th virtual edition)
UHN Howard Cohen Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Clinic – the first inter-disciplinary program providing expert care for NPH patients in Canada.
Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is an under-recognized neurological brain condition that affects one in 200 adults over the age of 60. NPH can be associated with irreversible neurodegenerative conditions that present like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia.
The difference? NPH is treatable. With early diagnosis and intervention, NPH is preventable.
Dr. Alfonso Fasano and Dr. David Tang-Wai have joined forces to create the first dedicated NPH clinic in Canada at Toronto Western Hospital jointly with the Memory Clinic, the Movement Disorders Clinic, and neurosurgery.
This year’s Spring Speaker Series edition will focus on the experts piloting this program, and the treatment to restore balance, gait, memory, and cognition in NPH patients.
