University of Toronto Neurology Grand Rounds: Pediatric to Adult Transition Care in Neurology Mini-Symposium

Neurology

Chronic neurological disorders are not only diseases of aging and can affect children of all ages. Pediatric to adult “transition care” is thus a critical and understudied aspect in the management of complex neurological conditions. Compared to adults, these persons often require additional support in the community and from allied health to manage and cope with their illness.

The Divisions of Adult Neurology and Pediatric Neurology from University of Toronto have collaborated over the past decade to create multiple transition care clinics including programs in epilepsy, neurovascular disease, neuromuscular disorders, headache and movement disorders. The division is looking to share experiences, successes and unmet needs in neurological transition care internally within the division and with our regional, national and international partners. It is our hope that this broad engagement across disciplines and borders can set up further advocacy efforts at the community and government levels and further enhance transition care.

As the first formal activity of this divisional priority, we would like to invite academic partners to a virtual Mini-Symposium from 8AM-noon on February 26th, 2021.  The first symposium will feature visiting professor Dr. Rima Nabbout from Paris, France (epilepsy) as well as local speakers.
