Parul Tandon

Dr. Tandon completed medical school at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, after obtaining his Bachelor of Science at McMaster University. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Gastroenterology training at the University of Toronto. He further pursued a clinical and research fellowship in Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, while completing a PhD in clinical epidemiology at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME), University of Toronto. He also graduated from the Elliot Philipson Clinician Scientist Training Program at the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, and the Clinician Investigator Training Program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.  He is an investigator member of the Canadian Gastrointestinal Epidemiology Consortium (CanGIEC), a member of the Administrative Affairs Committee for the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, and newest recruit of the Future Leaders of IBD Program. He is also applying for adjunct scientist status at ICES.

 
Dr. Tandon’s clinical expertise include care for those living with complex IBD and will soon include providing expertise in intestinal ultrasound for routine monitoring of bowel conditions. He is currently being trained by the International Bowel Ultrasound Group.  His areas of research interest include the development of large clinical registries for routine research and use of existing registries to answer health-services questions within IBD. Particularly, his research focus includes the health services utilization and management of IBD in special populations including those in preconception or pregnancy and those from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds (including new Canadians).
