Professor Peter Ebeling AO FAHMS is a Clinician Scientist with the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, based in the Division of Endocrinology at St. Michael's Hospital and in its associated Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. Previously, he served as Head of the Department of Medicine and the School of Clinical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Professor Ebeling has held numerous international leadership roles, including serving on the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Council for 11 years and as its first non-North American President in 2021-2022. He is also an International Osteoporosis Foundation Board Member and Editor-in-Chief of Bone, having previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Bone Reports and JBMR Plus, and Editor of Clinical Endocrinology (Oxf). He is Board Chair, Healthy Bones Australia, and previously served as President of both the Endocrine Society of Australia, and the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society. Research interests include public health aspects of vitamin D, atypical femur fractures, post-transplantation osteoporosis, and rare bone diseases, including hypophosphatasia and osteogenesis imperfecta. He is also developing artificial intelligence approaches to bone imaging in the setting of atypical femur fractures and rare bone diseases for both the diagnosis and the prediction of bone fragility. Professor Ebeling has over 585 peer-reviewed publications with over 42,000 citations and a h-index of 100, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Science and JBMR. He supervises several research higher degree students and post-doctoral Fellows, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students.
