Sarmad Al-Shamaa, MBChB, FIBMS, FRCPC is a Neurologist in the Department of Medicine (Neurology) at the University of Toronto. He received his MD from the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, Iraq in 1997. He completed his neurology residency at the Iraqi Board for Medical Specialization, University of Baghdad (Iraq) in 2004. He obtained the specialty certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians, UK, 2012. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Behavioural Neurology at Baycrest Health Sciences (University of Toronto) 2017-2019. He obtained the specialty certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada FRCPC, 2021. His major areas of interest include early onset dementia, disease specific biomarkers, and disease modifying therapy for neurodegenerative disorders.
