Description:

The Department of Medicine at Women's College Hospital invites applications for our Fellowship in Ambulatory Medicine. This Fellowship is open to applicants with completed specialty training in Internal Medicine and its Subspecialties. The program is intended to provide individuals trained in the fields of internal medicine with an opportunity to acquire advanced skills and expertise in the field of ambulatory medicine with a view to improving the quality of care and education in the ambulatory setting. The training will focus in any one or more of the following areas: women's health, complex chronic disease management; and health system solutions, and be supervised by a qualified member of the WCH Department of Medicine faculty.

Three streams of training are available:

CLINICAL STREAM: Together with her/his academic supervisor, the fellow will develop a one-year course of clinical study appropriate to the trainee's academic interests. Completion of a project suitable for peer-review publication is strongly recommended.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) STREAM: The fellow will be expected to complete advanced-level training in QI (e.g. Master's degree at the Institute for Health Policy Management and Evaluation or Veterans Affairs Scholars Program at U of T). Completion of a project suitable for peer-review publication is strongly recommended.

RESEARCH STREAM: The fellow will be expected to complete advanced-level training (e.g. Master's degree with potential for PhD level training or post-doctoral training) in clinical or educational research, with a view to assuming an academic faculty position at a teaching hospital as a Clinician Scientist/Investigator or Clinician Educator, respectively.

Fellowship applications to the Quality and Research Streams for longer than one year will be considered. Successful candidates would be encouraged to apply for external funding.

Attendance at medical and relevant subspecialty rounds will be expected, as will participation in relevant subspecialty clinical coverage after hours.
