The Department of Medicine is thrilled for Dr. Angela Cheung and her research team on receiving CIHR’s Clinical Trials Training Platform Grant for their training platform Canadian Training Platform for Trials Leveraging Existing Networks (CAN-TAP-TALENT).
COVID-19 demonstrated the need for clinical trials capacity and expertise to rapidly answer critical questions about treatment approaches, gather data on outcomes to further design precision trials, use novel research designs and analyses and to engage communities in the knowledge-to-action cycles so that results can be used to rapidly combat emerging health issues. CAN-TAP-TALENT’s proposal builds on existing multi-province and national clinical trials networks to build training and mentorship capacity for the next generation of clinical trialists – including physicians, surgeons, nurses and other allied health and research professionals.
We are elated for Dr. Cheung and her team and look forward to following along as the project progresses!
