Dr. Christine Soong appointed Faculty Lead - Equity

The Department of Medicine is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Soong as Faculty Lead – Equity, effective February 1, 2023.

Dr. Soong is a Clinician in Quality and Innovation and Associate Professor in the department’s Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM), inaugural Hospital Medicine Division Head and Medical Director of Quality and Safety at Sinai Health. 

She completed her medical degree at Western University, family medicine residency at the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.

Dr. Soong’s leadership roles include being the University Health Network-Mount Sinai Hospital's GIM Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) lead from 2022-23, Hospital Designation Program Implementation Lead at Choosing Wisely Canada and Associate Editor for BMJ Quality and Safety, where she is a member of the jounal’s EDI committee. Dr. Soong’s research and quality improvement interests include patient safety, high-value care, novel models of inpatient care, and transitions of care.

In her role as Faculty Lead – Equity, Dr. Soong looks forward to supporting and furthering the Culture and Inclusion portfolio, advancing EDI principles in all aspects of the department, including recruitment, hiring, mentorship, promotion and leadership along with evaluating the impact of this important work.
