Dr. Gary Levy

Dr. Gary Levy, founder of Canada’s first and one of the world’s foremost Multi-Organ Transplant Program at University Health Network’s Toronto General Hospital, is a recipient of the Faculty of Medicine’s Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes Faculty of Medicine alumni who have demonstrated a lifetime of exceptional professionalism through leadership, research, teaching, clinical care, administration or public service, and recognizes Dr. Levy for the national and community impact of his work.

During his tenure at Toronto General Hospital, Dr. Levy built the Multi-Organ Transplant Program to become the largest transplant program in Canada. As a faculty member in the U of T departments of Medicine, Immunology, Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology as well as the Institute of Medical Science, he has made major research contributions in the field of transplantation. He is recognized as a leader, physician, scientist and mentor.

Dean Trevor Young will be presenting the 2018 Dean’s Alumni Awards at U of T’s Alumni Reunion on June 1.
