The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Nazik Hammad has been appointed Faculty Lead for the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration (TAAAC).
With a strong background in hematology, oncology and immunology, Dr. Hammad brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will contribute to TAAAC’s success, along with enhancing our collaborative objectives through our partnership with the University of Addis Ababa Ethiopia. She holds the rank of full professor and recently relocated to Toronto in 2023, where she is now working clinically at Unity Health Toronto.
Dr. Hammad holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Khartoum, as well as a Master of Science in Fundamental Immunology from the University of Toronto and a Master of Education in the Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University School of Education. She has also served as co-chair of the Education and Training Committee with the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC). Dr. Hammad’s interest in comparative research in medical education will undoubtedly help to strengthen TAAAC’s initiatives. Additionally, she has co-authored several research-based medical articles published in journals such as Seminars in Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, JCO Global Oncology and Clinical Oncology.
