This year the University of Toronto received 28 applications for entry into the PGY-4 Hematology Program. It again, was a very competitive year for hematology with an excellent cohort of applicants interviewed on Wed. Sept 28, 2016. We are pleased to welcome three new trainees to the PGY-4 Hematology Program as of July 1, 2017:

Aditi Khandelwal, University of Toronto
Jiajia Liu, University of Toronto
Roman Shapiro, University of Western Ontario

A special thank you to our interview selection committee who worked very hard to review application portfolios and participate in the interview process: Drs. Richard Ward, Yulia Lin, Steven Chan,  Yael Zaretsky and our CMRs: Drs. Mary Salib and Zachary Liederman.

Much appreciation goes out to all rotation coordinators and staff  for their ongoing work with program enhancement as we transition with many new positive changes in the academic curriculum.  We will soon be soliciting nominations for our annual teaching awards at the upcoming Hematology Academic Day being held on April 18, 2017.

Congratulations to our graduating PGY-5s this year who have all passed their Royal College Hematology Exam: Eric Tseng, Shouyan Ning, Kelly McGowan and Matthew Yan. We wish the best of luck to our outgoing trainees as they embark on their ongoing training and/or new staff appointments. We send our sincere appreciation to you for the dedicated care you have all provided to our patients and hard work you have contributed to the training program. We look forward to having you join our new Hematology Alumni Association and look forward to working with you all as colleagues.
