Goals and Objectives: 

  • Discuss a few controversial topics in EM which have no clear evidence-based answers.

  • Develop a rational approach to managing patients with these conditions.

Received MD at the University of Toronto in 1989.

Received specialist certificate in Emergency Medicine from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1994.

Became Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1996.

Clinical and research interests in quality improvement and thromboembolic disease. Involved in the education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees at University of Toronto, and lecturing at local, national and international conferences. Author of several publications in University press, medical journals and reference textbooks.

Dr. David Carr

Dr David Carr is an Associate Professor in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto.  He serves as the Assistant Director of Risk Management and Faculty Development at the University Health Network in Toronto.  He has been the recipients of both Undergraduate and Post Graduate Clinical Teaching awards.   During the Baseball season, he works at the Roger's Centre as the Medical director of stadium medicine for the Toronto Blue Jays.  In 2010, he pursued his passions serving as an ER physician in the Athletes Village for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  In 2015, he co- authored a chapter on Occlusive Arterial Disease in the 8th Edition of Tintinalli's Emergency Medicine.
