Description:

The University of Toronto Pregnancy and Heart Disease program is a multidisciplinary program that provides clinical care for pregnant women with heart disease. The group has produced important research on the impact of pregnancy on women with heart disease. We offer 1- and 2-year fellowships. The focus of the fellowship is to gain clinical and research expertise in pregnancy and heart disease. Trainning includes understanding pregnancy risks in this population including an indepth knowledge on the impact of pregnancy on the diseased heart, risk stratification of the pregnant women with heart disease, assessment of the safety of medication use during pregnancy, management of complications during pregnancy, at labour and delivery, and postpartum. The candidate will receive clinical training in the outpatient clinics and on the inpatient consult service. The canidate will also be involved in research projects examining the impact of pregnancy on the diseased heart.
